Since Carty is no longer there, maybe they will do something good and not desicrate that name in some scheme. I think AA is happy with finally being profitable again, and their ads seem to focus against Low Fare carriers, so I think they are going to try to find a niche and become like a LH, BA, or AF and still perform well against the compeition. On the comment before, it is possible for a low fare carrier to be profitable off the bat, ask jetBlue. The problem is that UA can't run the kind of airline they are used to running, so how can they run one they are not? Hell, we know Shuttle failed. And they are trying to do it out of a base where another low fare carrier is based. Frontier may not have quite the cachet of WN or B6, but they have a very loyal following and, unlike UA, are run very well. It would be brighter for UA, if they wanted to build a low fare carrier, to start it at Dulles where they could squash ACA and tap a rather virgin market (jetBlue does not fly that many flights there and WN is at BWI).
