The Boeing 707 which had 208 passengers and crew on board landed at around 3.30pm. It is understood passengers were alarmed after detecting an odd smell on board the plane. Emergency services had been standing by at Shannon while lifeboats and other vessels at sea off the West Coast were also on alert.
