Continental to stop offsetting federal ticket fees = = = = Friday October 3, 12:14 PM EDT = NEW YORK, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Continental Airlines (CAL) on Friday said it = would stop cutting its ticket prices to offset certain fees mandated by t= he government and Cleveland's international airport, which will have the = effect of raising fares. Continental, the No. 5 U.S. airline, said the old policy cost the airline= tens of millions of dollars each year. The Houston-based airline said th= e new policy, effective immediately, would apply to fees the government i= mposes on each flight segment, and to facility charges for passengers who= connect at Hopkins International Airport in Cleveland. "The current depressed revenue environment and the continued fall in aver= age fares paid in recent years dictates this change," the airline said in= a written statement. "Customers will now see the full impact of taxation= on their ticket purchases." = =A92003 Reuters Limited. = Roger EWROPS
