Thousands of travelers suffered serious delays and flight cancelations during and after the July 18-19 walkout, and many more arrived at destinations without their luggage. It took days to clear the backlog of stranded travelers and bags. The airline said it was offering the vouchers ``as a gesture of goodwill'' and had already contacted 17,000 affected passengers. ``We recognize how upsetting and frustrating the strike at Heathrow must have been to disrupted customers,'' said BA marketing director Martin George. ``We hope that these vouchers will go some way to making up for the problems that people encountered.'' BA has said the unofficial strike cost it tens of millions of dollars.
