KLM spokesman Hugo Baas said the cuts, if needed, would be made in 2004-2005, representing about 4.5 percent of the company's total work force at the end of its 2002-2003 fiscal year. In April, KLM announced the 3,000 job cuts, or 9 percent of the total work force, saying the measure was needed to counter falling business resulting from the outbreak of SARS and the war in Iraq. Baas said Wednesday the airline has been able to reduce the number of forced layoffs from those cuts to 700 from 1,000. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/business/AP-KLM-Job-Cuts.html?ex=1057546577&ei=1&en=b13219762c16fce1 --------------------------------- Get Home Delivery of The New York Times Newspaper.
