Tri-State Airport offers refunds for summer travelers HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) =97 Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W. Va., is=20 offering refunds of up to $100 on airline tickets this summer in a move to= =20 generate more traffic at the airport. The offer is good for all tickets=20 purchased between July 7 and Aug. 6. To qualify for a refund, a passenger's= =20 flight must originate at Tri-State, said Beckie McKinley, marketing=20 director for the airport. The offer is good for both business and leisure=20 travel. To obtain a refund, travelers must leave their ticket receipts,=20 travel itinerary and name and address in a drop box in the terminal.=20 "They'll receive a check from the authority within a week," she said. The=20 airport authority is funding the refund, not the airlines. McKinley said=20 the airport is not sure how much the promotion will cost. Tri-State has=20 suffered declining passenger traffic the past decade. In 1992, 94,009=20 people boarded flights there. Last year, the number dropped to 50,106. Part= =20 of the decline can be attributed to a drop in business travel as the region= =20 lost several companies.
