Screener finds cocaine in baggage at LAX LOS ANGELES (AP) =97 More than 13 pounds of cocaine were discovered by a=20 luggage screener using an X-ray scanner at Los Angeles International=20 Airport, but the passenger got away, authorities said Tuesday. Police=20 estimated the street value of the cocaine at $250,000. The discovery was=20 made when a man placed a suitcase through the scanner at 10:59 p.m. Monday= =20 while checking in at the ATA Airline ticketing counter, said Transportation= =20 Security Administration spokeswoman Suzanne Luber. The screener was making= =20 a routine check for explosives and noticed "six powdery substance packages"= =20 on the screen, Luber said. "At that point it became obvious it was=20 narcotics," she said. Airport police were called.
