The first pressurized airliner, the Stratoliner emerged in 2001 from six years of painstaking restoration by Boeing Co. volunteers. Just months later, the airplane was forced to ditch in Seattle?s Elliott Bay following a loss of power during a crew proficiency flight. Back to the restoration shop! Now, the gleaming 1940 airliner is ready for its final public debut on the Museum of Flight Ramp on June 14. It will remain on display at the Museum through June 15, after which it will leave Seattle forever to be displayed at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Virginia. Stratoliner restoration crew chief Gary Dawson will discuss the efforts to return the aircraft to the skies in a multimedia presentation at 2:00 p.m. posted by Antoin Daltun
