South American carrier wants bigger Caribbean presence

One little-known South American airline is trying to boost its presence in
the lucrative Caribbean market. Surinam Airways is starting weekly flights
to Aruba and Haiti this month, the company said Thursday. The airline
already has regular flights from Suriname to Brazil, Guyana, Curacao,
Trinidad and Barbados. In addition, Surinam Airways and Dutch carrier KLM
jointly operate five weekly flights between the Netherlands and this former
Dutch colony on the north coast of South America.
