Air France Concorde soars home for final time

The final commercial flight by Air France's Concorde between New York and Paris has taken place.

It ends two-and-a-half decades of supersonic travel between the cities.

The plane touched down at Charles de Gaulle Airport after cruising over the Atlantic Ocean at twice the speed of sound.

Hundreds of Concorde fans gathered along the runway to greet the plane.

Some held banners reading: "Thank you Concorde, we love you."

Three water trucks sprayed red, white and blue water in an arc in front of the plane as it departed for the flight. Eleven crew members and 68 passengers were on board, including a woman who bought a seat for her dog, Romeo.
