Northwest Airlines flight attendants to vote on union switch MINNEAPOLIS (AP) =97 Northwest Airlines flight attendants will vote over the= =20 next 28 days on whether to oust the Teamsters as their union and switch to= =20 the upstart Professional Flight Attendants Association for representation.= =20 The Teamsters have represented Northwest flight attendants since 1976, and= =20 this is the fourth time rivals have attempted to oust that union. Guy Meek,= =20 interim president of PFAA, said the outcome won't be known until June 19.=20 Dissident Northwest flight attendants began their drive to leave the=20 Teamsters last June. PFAA organizers say the 1.4 million member=20 International Brotherhood of Teamsters has too much control over Teamsters= =20 Local 2000, which represents about 11,000 Northwest flight attendants. Two= =20 weeks after PFAA announced its campaign last summer, IBT President James P.= =20 Hoffa removed the elected officers of Local 2000, claiming they failed to=20 aggressively fight the rival organizers.
