Northwest settles with Pakistani man removed from plane SAN FRANCISCO (AP) =97 Northwest Airlines has agreed to pay an undisclosed= =20 sum to a Pakistani man from California who was kicked off a plane allegedly= =20 because of his "Middle Eastern appearance." Financial terms of the deal=20 announced Wednesday between the Eagan, Minn.-based carrier and Harris Khan,= =20 a 28-year-old software manager from Monterey, were confidential.Khan's=20 attorney, Robert Rubin of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in San=20 Francisco, said he believed it was the first cash award in a case of=20 alleged passenger profiling following the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.On= =20 Dec. 25, 2001, Khan boarded a San Jose-bound flight in Minneapolis.The=20 plane left the boarding gate, but stopped when the pilot announced there=20 was ice on the wings. Rubin asserted that the crew was actually observing=20 Khan based on a passenger's concerns.
