Survey: Dubai is world's favorite airport; Cincinnati tops in U.S.

GENEVA (Reuters) =97 Dubai and Singapore's Changi are the world's favourite=
=20
international airports, holding the top spots for the second year in a row,=
=20
according to a survey released on Tuesday by the global airlines' body=20
IATA. Passengers rated the two just ahead of Hong Kong and Copenhagen's=20
Kastrup, which were in third and fourth place respectively. Based on=20
interviews late last year with some 70,000 travellers at each of 51 major=20
airports around the globe, the annual survey put only one U.S. hub,=20
Cincinatti, in the top 10 =97 which included a total of five in Asia and two=
=20
in Europe. Sydney's modern terminal, built for the 2000 Olympic Games and=20
since a perennial favourite with travellers, came in 10th. Dubai, whose=20
terminal was completed in 2000 and saw 16 million people pass through last=
=20
year, is one of the world's fastest-growing airports. Passengers gave it=20
high marks for eating facilities, shops and ground transport access.

Singapore, like Hong Kong currently badly hit by a sharp decline in Asian=20
travel due to the SARS virus, saw 29 million pass through last year and won=
=20
approval for the courtesy and helpfulness of its staff. Canada's Vancouver,=
=20
eighth in the overall ratings for passenger satisfaction, was also top in=20
the Americas, ahead of Cincinatti and Minneapolis. In Europe, Copenhagen=20
was followed in seventh spot by Athens' new Eleftherios Venizelos airport =
=97=20
whose construction ahead of next year's Olympic Games in the city was=20
bugged by problems and criticism from IATA itself. Seoul's Incheon, another=
=20
new airport criticised in its early stages by IATA, the 277-member=20
International Air Transport Association, also won passenger plaudits,=20
emerging sixth in the overall ranking just after Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur.=20
None of the world's 10 busiest passenger airports =97 headed by Atlanta with=
=20
nearly 77 million passengers last year, Chicago's O'Hare, London's Heathrow=
=20
and Tokyo's Hanada =97 were in the top league for passenger satisfaction.

World's Top Ten Airports - The following is a list of the top 10 airports=
=20
in overall passenger satisfaction, with the points they scored (out of=20
five) in the IATA survey:
1. Dubai 4.35
2. Singapore 4.22
3. Hong Kong 4.12
4. Copenhagen 3.99
5. Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) 3.96
6. Incheon (So. Korea) 3.92
7. Athens 3.88
8. Vancouver 3.77
9. Cincinnati 3.76
10. Sydney 3.75
