Some good runners up, but bottom line:  Connie for props, Concorde for jets.

The Diesel Eight Sixty Two: agreed, of the first gen. jets, it's right up
there with the 707-320B as the best looker. The A340 is the modern day
immitation so warrants an honourable mention. And yes, "gutless".  In the
words of an AC captain:  "it has just enough power to get the job done".
Which makes an outboard engine out at MGTOW on a hot day a scary
prospect...and two a downright deadly one.

Now how about the ugliest?  For props, clearly the Stratocruiser.  So ugly
it's beautiful. For jets?  I'm not real fond of the Embraer RJs...or the
A310.
