Thai Airways promises compensation if its passengers get SARS while on= flight BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) =97 Thailand's flag carrier Thai Airways on Friday=20 promised to pay $100,000 compensation to any passenger who gets infected=20 with SARS while flying on its aircraft. Thai Airways chairman Thanong=20 Bidaya told reporters the airline is confident that its preventive measures= =20 are of such high standards that no passenger would contract SARS while on=20 its flight. "To convince passengers that the national carrier is free from= =20 SARS, we would pay $100,000 to any passenger who can prove he or she got=20 SARS from flying Thai," Thanong told reporters. Thai Airways has been=20 carrying out preflight medical checks of all passengers boarding its planes= =20 in countries affected by severe acute respiratory syndrome. Thanong said=20 the airline has been working closely with the Public Health Ministry on the= =20 preventive measures and disinfection of the planes. Thailand has not=20 reported any local infection of the disease, which has killed more than 500= =20 people worldwide.
