Continental Airlines eService Centers Introduce 'Continental Currency' For In-Flight Purchases

HOUSTON, May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The first airline to introduce
eTicket self check-in, Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) now introduces another
self-service first. Customers now have the option to purchase "Continental
Currency," redeemable in-flight for beer, wine, cocktails, and audio headsets,
at its industry-leading network of over 700 eService Center kiosks in 117 U.S.
airports.
Continental Currency can be purchased before departure using a credit card
and is used in lieu of cash for these transactions.
"As most of our customers check-in at eService Centers, we're simplifying
the travel experience for those customers who desire these amenities" said a
Continental spokesperson.
eService Centers will dispense Continental Currency in increments of one,
two, three or six coupons, each worth $5. The three-coupon and six-coupon
purchases are discounted at $13 and $25 respectively, saving up to 16 percent.
On board, alcoholic beverages and headsets can be exchanged for one coupon
each.
Continental customers are welcome to retain headsets for use on future
flights or use their own headsets for in-flight entertainment.
Continental Currency coupons may be used on any Continental, Continental
Express or Continental Micronesia flight for up to one year from the date of
purchase.
Continental continues to empower its customers with services that add
options and flexibility throughout their travel experience. Services recently
upgraded include continental.com Check-in and the TripAlert notification
system.
