BWIA repairs aircraft, resumes London service BY ASHA WILLIAMS Guardian 05.06.03 BWIA's service to London should return to normalcy today, according to spokesman Clint Williams. He gave this assurance yesterday, words which may comfort approximately 200 passengers said to be stranded in Barbados, London and T&T, after two flights were cancelled over the weekend due to technical problems with an aircraft. Williams said the A340 aircraft, which developed the problems after arriving in Barbados on Saturday, was repaired and ready to fly yesterday. He said two flights, one at 5.30 pm and another at 7.30, actually flew to London yesterday. Williams said the A340 was one of the aircraft scheduled to fly yesterday, while the other was an aircraft leased from another company. He said the affected aircraft was fixed yesterday morning in Barbados and declared ready to fly after it was tested. It was then brought to Piarco to begin service. Williams said passengers who were scheduled to fly over the weekend were to be accommodated on yesterday's flights. Those scheduled to fly yesterday will be accommodated on today's flights, he said. "Between today and tomorrow (today), all would be accommodated," Williams said, when asked about the stranded passengers yesterday. On Sunday, Williams said, the airline accommodated a few affected passengers on flights connecting to London through New York and Toronto over the weekend. Those stranded in Trinidad were sent to hotels, most staying at the Crowne Plaza, he added. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@xxxxxxxxx Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Site of the Week: http://www.cso.gov.tt TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
