(AP) -- An express carrier for United Airlines is adding four daily flights between Reno and San Francisco. The new SkyWest Airlines flights will fly under the banner of United Express beginning Monday, for a total of six daily connections between the two cities, said officials for the airline based in St. George, Utah. United has been flying four 737s daily between the cities but will cut t= wo of those to make room for the four SkyWest regional jets. No other airline offers direct Reno-San Francisco service. Southwest Airlines flys between Reno and Oakland. The Canadair Regional Jets made by Bombardier will have 50 seats, four in each row, making all aisle or window locations, SkyWest spokesman Philip Gee said. The changes will leave United with 28 fewer seats between the cities, sa= id Nora Abbey, United station manager in Reno. "From a marketing point of view, it is an excellent move for them," said Thomas Medland, director of marketing and air service development at Reno/Tahoe International Airport. "Especially in San Francisco, where United has a hub. It gives people mo= re opportunity to make connecting flights," he told the Reno Gazette-Journal. =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2003 AP
