LHR-Kuwait-LHR (or LHR-TLV-LHR) is too long to use the same crew there and back, so the flight stops in Larnaca to pick up a new crew in order to avoid having the crews overnight someplace where the airline doesn't want them to.

One crew can fly LHR-LCA-LHR, and the other one does LCA-TLV-LCA, or
something to that effect.  It may not work exactly like that, but that's
the basic idea.
