Reuters American Air Pilots Want Clarification Thursday April 17, 6:11 pm ET CHICAGO (Reuters) - Pilots at American Airlines said on Thursday they were irate over news that executives at the world's largest airline had funded special pensions and wanted clarification as to why they were not informed while union concession negotiations took place. AMR Corp.'s (NYSE:AMR - News) American narrowly avoided a bankruptcy filing on Wednesday after flight attendants upon a second vote joined two other major unions to provide $1.8 billion in concessions the airline said was necessary to avoid Chapter 11. "We have sacrificed deeply to enable American Airlines to avoid an immediate bankruptcy filing," said Allied Pilots Association President John Darrah. "Unfortunately, it appears that management is not off to a very promising start at making the most of the reprieve the unionized employees have provided through our collective sacrifices." _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
