Grant, Are you sure your wife didn't fly Santiago - EASTER ISLAND - Tahiti? The Galapagos Islands are hundreds of miles out of the way. LAN has flown to Easter Island nonstop from Santiago for decades. As far as I know, they have never flown scheduled flights to the Galapagos.
