Continental to cut summer capacity, reduce jobs

CHICAGO (Reuters) =97 Continental Airlines said Tuesday it will cut its=20
summer flight schedule by 2% versus a year ago and trim more jobs to better=
=20
match a decline in air traffic. The No. 5 U.S. airline said the capacity=20
cut would result in additional job losses beyond the 1,200 it announced in=
=20
March. Continental said two weeks ago it was eliminating 1,200 jobs by year=
=20
end and targeting $500 million in annual cost cuts as the war in Iraq=20
weighed on its business. The carrier said Tuesday it was not eliminating=20
routes, but instead reducing the number of flights on certain routes that=20
have weaker demand.
