My sincerest condolences to all US employees, since its totally beyond sickening and disgusting considering that neither Wolf nor his prodigy Gangwal has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING while they are at the helm of US Airways other than screwing all the little hard working people under them that keep the company running compensated with furloughs, lay-offs, wage concessions, reduced pensions among other things whilst these two former corporate bandits are walking away with murder and laughing all the way to the bank with an overly opulent treasure chest each to keep the both of them well taken care of beyond their graves at the expense of all the little suckers that put blood and sweat into the company and working their way into oblivion and they couldn't care if the company was doomed as long as they can walk away with exorbitant compensations 'legally' under the corporate code.
The only credit that Wolf is due, is him coming up with this bloody and overly dark sinister, military-looking US Airways image promising to transform the airline into a world-class carrier which he and his protege failed and wasting the company millions to convert everything from the former USAir. Wolf has always been referred to in the past as the 'airline doctor' having turned around Flying Tigers, Republic and United during his tenure at those airlines, but its now obvious that Wolf lost his 'midas touch' for US Airways but still got compensated with a huge loot for doing nothing !
They are blood suckers alright in every sense....incredible but true ! Its amazing that there is no mutiny within the company to lynch them on the millions given....

"US Airways gave $35 million in pension payments to top 3 former executives"

As it was careening into financial ruin and ultimately Chapter 11 bankruptcy, US Airways paid $35 million in lump-sum retirement benefits to its former top three executives.

Stephen Wolf, who ran the airline for seven years and now serves as chairman of the board, received $15 million. Wolf is no longer employed by the carrier. His protege, Rakesh Gangwal, who resigned as president and CEO in November 2001, also received $15 million, and Lawrence Nagin, the airline's longtime executive vice president and general counsel who retired last March, received $5 million.

Although the payouts apparently took place at the time each of the executives retired, they didn't come to light until this week during a bankruptcy court hearing in Alexandria, Va. Disclosure of the payments was tucked into documents filed with the court last September and October.
