SEC sues chief of Global Airlines over fake buyout plans NEW YORK (AP) =97 Government regulators sued the chief executive of Global= =20 Airlines Corp. on Monday, accusing him of announcing plans to buy two major= =20 carriers when he knew the purchases would be impossible.The lawsuit filed=20 by the Securities and Exchange Commission seeks an unspecified fine against= =20 Emil Bernard, 50, and accuses him of violating federal securities laws.=20 Bernard could not immediately be reached for comment. The suit claims=20 Bernard announced Global's plans to buy Trans World Airlines in 2000 and US= =20 Airways in 2001 =97 even using the fake name "John Scott" in press releases= =20 designed to trump up the purchases. It claims Bernard knew making either=20 deal would be impossible because Global "had no assets or resources."
