Funny you mention the captain on your UA flight. Just returned from
Thailand through Hong Kong with them and the captain came through the
upper deck handing out B744 trading cards with his name on it. Very
friendly guy and was really excited about the new direction of UA. Even
had channel nine open the entire pacific crossing for me. DL is almost
to the banned phase for all my future travel.

Notes from recent travels on United:
=3D20
1. Two interesting experiences on ROC-ORD flights, one in December and =
=3D
one two weeks ago. In December, on landing in ORD, the captain came on,
mentioned that United had some great deals on flights over the next few
months and ended with the comment "we'll be here." Two weeks ago, the
captain actually walked through the cabin prior to pushback, talking to
passengers. Both were nice touches. =3D20 2. Speaking of ROC, Airtran is
exploding there. They only started =3D service ROC-ATL in the summer of
2001 and they are already doing directs to =3D Orlando and BWI. =
Currently
overnighting two aircraft at their two gates. =3D20 3. What does one =
have
to do to get United to name a plane after you? =3D N773UA is named for a
customer. Anybody know the story on this one? =3D20 4. JAL "Our 100th =
747"
at ORD on 3/14. =3D20 5. SkyWest is expanding its United Express =
terminal
at LAX. Pretty gutsy move given United's condition. I guess they feel
they can operate the service on their own or attract a new partner (the
logical choice would =3D be Delta, it seems to me). =3D20 6. 747 in =
FedEx
colors but no titles at LAX on 3/14 and parked to the =3D right of =
FedEx's
cargo facility. Has this plane been sold to someone else =3D (sorry, no =
N
number)? =3D20 7. Hawaiian DC-10 at one of their LAX gates. 767 as well.
In addition, a =3D 767 was all the way over by Delta's hanger (near the
SkyWest commuter =3D terminal). Any reason? Is DAL servicing the 767s? =
=3D20
8. The Pacific Skyway J-21 remains parked at SMX. =3D20 9. DAL has an
MD-11 parked at LAX on weekdays around 11:30. Is this the one-stop
ATL-HNL? What is this going to when the MDs are removed? Can =3D one get
on that flight at LAX or is it a technical stop only? =3D20 10. UA 747 =
at
IAD on 3/21. I've never seen one there before. Is it doing ORD-IAD or
Atlantic service?
