United Jet Veers Off Melbourne Tarmac Associated Press MELBOURNE, Australia - A United Airlines jet veered off the tarmac after landing at Melbourne Airport on Friday, authorities said. None of the 150 passengers or 12 crew were injured. The Boeing 747 ended up with its nose wheel in the grass, airport spokeswoman Brooke Lord told The Associated Press. The passengers and crew were transferred from the jumbo jet to the terminal by bus. A spokesman for United did not immediately return calls seeking comment. The plane flew to the southern city of Melbourne from Los Angeles with a stopover in Sydney.
