ALPA invited Delta to an information sharing meeting on March 10, Delta spokesman David Keathley said Wednesday. He said he had no details about the meeting or what cost-cutting steps might follow. ALPA, which represents more than 9,000 Delta pilots, said it must thoroughly analyze the airline's financial situation. Delta has told union leaders the company must address pilot expenses to weather the industry's prolonged financial downturn. Union spokeswoman Karen Miller said Delta officials would present an overview on March 10, and then the union would determine whether to proceed. Atlanta-based Delta says it must reduce pilot costs to remain competitive with other airlines. Several of its rivals, including American, United and US Airways, have gained or are negotiating concessions from their pilots. Delta shares rose 18 cents to close at $8.50 Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange. =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2003 AP
