Air Tahiti Nui is the longhaul airline of Tahiti. They are flying A340s -
now up to four of them - from Papeete to LAX, and on to Paris CDG
several times a week, and also fly to Japan, Noumea, and Ausckland.
They are apparently looking into flying a version of the A340-500
nonstop between Paris and Papeete, which would probably be the
longest non-stop route in the world.
