Just to feed in a little more data on this subject...

- Cessna 208 Caravan HK-1166. Reportedly, the aircraft is leased from
Washington-based One Leasing
- Five POB, four US citizens and one Colombian national;
- Aircraft departed Bogotá International (SKBO), with a stop at Neiva (SKNV)
and final destination apparently Tres Esquinas AB (SKTQ). Reportedly, the
aircraft was engaged in a recce/surveillance flight over Florencia (Prov. of
Caquetá).
- The aircraft was declared overdue and possibly missing at 0843LT.
Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft crashed at El Nemal, a jungle
forest area in the vicinity of Florencia. Colombian Army search teams were
inserted in the presumed crash area by helicopters based at SKTQ, these
teams locating the aircraft 25 km N of Florencia and inside a canyon known
as "Santa Ana de las Hermosas" and well within territory controlled by the
FARC. Initial reports indicated that the aircraft experienced an engine
malfunction - apparently confirmed by the search teams that located the
Caravan. Two bodies were found at the site. However, the three remaining
occupants are missing and were presumably taken by the FARC.
- Reportedly, the four US nationals were DEA officers carrying out a counter
drug reconnaissance sortie.
