They had Spirit and Nations Air there for awhile.  I believe it was Atlantic
City service (mostly gambling) and I think the aircraft flew somewhere in
Florida the next leg they sold thru tickets..  At least as best I can
recall.  The biggest other than that was Wright Airlines .  I was tower
chief there in the 70s' and the largest they operated was CV44's and CV60's.
Midwest Air Charter (Air Ohio) started there.  Gibby Singerman and Dan ?
started it hauling checks at night.  That was the start of the Midnight Air
Transport Service (ha ha).  That became (after a move to Lorain County (22G)
and then Wilmington (ILG) ABX.  Gibby  sold it to them.  There has always
been a lot of talk over the years about scheduled air service but it never
panned out.  Wright did operate the Convairs from Lakefront to Detroit City,
Columbus,and Pittsburgh as I recall.
