They had Spirit and Nations Air there for awhile. I believe it was Atlantic City service (mostly gambling) and I think the aircraft flew somewhere in Florida the next leg they sold thru tickets.. At least as best I can recall. The biggest other than that was Wright Airlines . I was tower chief there in the 70s' and the largest they operated was CV44's and CV60's. Midwest Air Charter (Air Ohio) started there. Gibby Singerman and Dan ? started it hauling checks at night. That was the start of the Midnight Air Transport Service (ha ha). That became (after a move to Lorain County (22G) and then Wilmington (ILG) ABX. Gibby sold it to them. There has always been a lot of talk over the years about scheduled air service but it never panned out. Wright did operate the Convairs from Lakefront to Detroit City, Columbus, and Pittsburgh as I recall. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis W Zeuch" <DZTOPS@aol.com> To: <AIRLINE@LISTSERV.CUNY.EDU> Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2003 6:19 PM Subject: Re: Columbus Explained > Just curious but is there any service from Columbus to Cleveland Burke > Downtown airport?
