BWIA plane grounded after runway accident By Curtis Rampersad Trinidad Express One of just three light turboprop aircraft servicing the airbridge route between Trinidad and Tobago had to be temporarily taken out of service when a baggage trolley hit the plane. The baggage trolley rubbed against the Dash-8 aircraft as it was being prepared to depart Piarco International Airport in the early afternoon. BWIA's director of corporate communications Clint Williams said the trolley rubbed along the fuselage of the aircraft and scraped some paint off the plane. Following strict standard procedure, the incident was investigated and the aircraft inspected. Williams could not confirm reports that passengers were transferred to another aircraft. No repairs had to be done to the Dash-8 and the aircraft was returned to service.Tobago Express operates eight daily flights to the sister island using two of its own Dash-8s and another leased from BWIA. Last March, another one of the Dash-8s was slightly damaged when a ground maintenance truck accidentally hit the aircraft. The plane was taken out of service, repaired and re-introduced into service the next day. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@escape.ca Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Site of the Week: http://www.caribscape.com/tamnakthai/ TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
