Fort Lauderdale airport councourse briefly evacuated FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) =97 Authorities evacuated about 200 people from= an=20 airport concourse Wednesday after a man walked away from security check,=20 officials said. Kadar Singh, of Guyana, was stopped while going through a=20 checkpoint in a Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport concourse.= =20 His wife and two children passed through the screening area with no=20 problems, but Singh set off the checkpoint alarm, Broward County sheriff's= =20 spokeswoman Cheryl Stopnick said. Screeners wanted to check him with a=20 magnetic wand, but he walked away before they could bring the wand, airport= =20 spokesman Jim Reynolds said. Stopnick said the man was merely walking=20 toward his wife and kids and was not a threat, but the concourse was=20 evacuated as part of increased security measures since the Sept. 11, 2001,= =20 terrorist attacks.
