Further Information on US Airways Express Flight 5481

WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways Express flight 5481, which crashed earlier today in Charlotte, NC was a Raytheon 1900D model. The aircraft was manufactured in 1996 and at the time of the accident had 15,010 hours. Registration number of the Aircraft was N233YV. Air Midwest has turned over to the FAA & NTSB all records relating maintenance and history of the Aircraft.



The crew was composed of a Captain & First Officer. The captain was Katie Leslie and the first officer was Jonathan Gibbs, both based in Charlotte, NC. "Our deepest condolences go out to the families of these employees who were exemplary members of the Air Midwest family," said Greg Stephens, President of Air Midwest, Inc.



US Airways has established a special toll-free telephone number to call for information about those on board Flight 5481. The number is 1-800-679-8215.



Air Midwest along with officials from US Airways are enroute to Charlotte to assist in the NTSB investigation.


After securing the accident site this investigation has been turned over to the NTSB. All future press inquiries regarding the accident investigation of flight 5481 should be directed to the NTSB Public Affairs Office at 202-314-6100.
