Delta tinkers with standby policies While other airlines have scrapped plans to tack on extra charges for=20 standby travel, Delta seems intent to make its fees stick. A week after=20 American, Continental and United dropped plans for a $100 standby=20 surcharge, Delta said it will change =97 but not abandon =97 its plans to=20 charge fliers wanting to switch to another flight. Delta will eliminate=20 standby travel by requiring passengers to confirm a seat on another flight= =20 if change their plans for same-day travel. Delta will impose a $25 charge=20 for new flights within three hours of the customer's originally scheduled=20 flight, though changes to a flight departing more than three hours from the= =20 traveler's original flight will carry a $100 fee, plus any fare difference.= =20 The company said it would waive the fee for platinum and gold members of=20 Delta's SkyMiles program.
