Southwest Has Labor Pact

December 25, 2002
By REUTERS

DALLAS, Dec. 24 (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines said today
that it had reached a tentative contract agreement with its
customer-service employees.

The agreement, including substantial raises and stock
options, would cover 10,000 customer-service and
reservations workers at the low-cost air carrier, according
to the International Association of Machinists and
Aerospace Workers.

The pact, reached late on Monday, would extend for six
years and was reached during about six weeks of talks.

The union's members still have to approve the contract and
voting is scheduled to be completed by Jan. 30.

Southwest, which is based in Dallas, has negotiated several
union contracts with workers this year, including a
two-year contract extension with its pilots that also
included stock options.
