The report,=20 released last week, said Asia-Pacific airlines lost 1.5 million out of a=20 total of nearly 400 million bags carried each year. Carriers paid out $83=20 in compensation and delivery costs for each mishandled bag, equating to 40= =20 cents per passenger carried, it added. "Over and above these amounts is=20 potentially a far greater cost =97 an airline's loss of disenchanted=20 passengers to a competitor," the report said.
