US Airways faces hurdles in reorganization plan US Airways' survival may depend as much on good luck as smart strategy and= =20 creditors' support, according to a USA TODAY report. The carrier filed its= =20 reorganization plan with the bankruptcy court late Friday, and is counting= =20 on $1.8 billion in annual cost savings as it attempts to transform itself=20 from a high-cost network carrier into one that is able to compete against=20 the numerous low-fare rivals that have moved into its territory over the=20 past few years. US Airways reorganization plan relies on several key=20 components over which it has little control =97 including the financial=20 health of its newest partner, United Airlines, which has also filed for=20 bankruptcy. In addition, US Airways must find a way to bridge a financial=20 shortfall in its pension plan, and hope that the already depressed travel=20 market is not further damaged by a conflict in Iraq.
