BA looks to code share with AA
Trinidad Newsday 12.18.02

Competition in air transport in the region is getting tougher. British
Airways has applied to the US Department of Transportation for a code
sharing agreement with American Airlines. A code share between the two
airlines would improve travel for both airlines' transatlantic customers,
offering convenient schedules and reduced connection times to more
destinations in the UK and the US. The agreement would enable the airlines
which are both members of the one world global alliance, to place BA codes
on AA flights beyond US gateway cities currently served by BA to points in
the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America and on AA flights between
Glasgow, Manchester and Chicago. The application excludes code sharing on
each other's transatlantic services between the US and London. The new code
share would be competitive and would not include co-ordination on pricing.
The existing one world alliance between BA and AA already allows the
airlines to sell tickets on each other's networks and also covers frequent
flyer and lounge sharing arrangements.
