delta airmiles Elite status change: Starting Jan. 1, Delta Air Lines will award the top=20 status in its SkyMiles frequent-flier program =97 elite =97 based on a=20 combination of miles flown and fare prices paid instead of solely on miles= =20 or segments flown. The change does not affect customers' status earned in=20 2002 for the 2003 membership year, nor does it affect lower frequent-flier= =20 levels. The airline also will change its upgrade policy, giving fewer=20 complimentary upgrades and lowering the distance a member can travel on an= =20 individual upgrade point from 800 to 500 miles.
