Mesa Air Seeks Pay Cuts December 11, 2002 By BLOOMBERG NEWS PHOENIX, Dec. 10 - The Mesa Air Group, a provider of commuter flights for airlines including the US Airways Group, asked workers to take a voluntary 5 percent, one-year pay cut in exchange for bonuses if the company earns a profit. Salary next year will also be frozen for managers, while the company's chief executive, president and executive vice president will each take a 20 percent salary cut, Mesa said. The voluntary program for the rest of its 3,300 employees is similar to one Mesa used after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Mesa, which is based in Phoenix, had a net loss of $9.3 million, or 28 cents a share, in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. Mesa declined to say how much it expected to save with the pay-cut program. About half the airline's workers are members of unions, which declined to take part in the previous voluntary program. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/12/11/business/11MESA.html?ex=1040620764&ei=1&en=e9f1d40c109781f8 HOW TO ADVERTISE --------------------------------- For information on advertising in e-mail newsletters or other creative advertising opportunities with The New York Times on the Web, please contact onlinesales@nytimes.com or visit our online media kit at http://www.nytimes.com/adinfo For general information about NYTimes.com, write to help@nytimes.com.
