Air Canada Expands Canada-Spain Service, Introduces Codeshare Flights to
Five Additional Cities
MONTREAL, Nov. 13 /CNW/ - Air Canada is expanding its air service between
Canada and Spain. Effective November 14, 2002, Air Canada will offer flights
to Bilbao, Valencia, Alicante, Tenerife and Las Palmas on a codeshare basis
via Madrid in cooperation with its partner, Spanair. Flights are scheduled to
provide customers with convenient connections to Air Canada's non-stop Toronto-
Madrid service. Members of Air Canada's frequent flyer program, Aeroplan,
enjoy accumulation and redemption benefits on these new services.
"Expansion of Air Canada's codeshare flights to serve a total of eight
domestic Spain destinations builds on our non-stop service between Toronto and
Madrid," said Ross MacCormack, Senior Vice President, International and
Alliances. "The growth in Air Canada's partnership with Spanair, soon to
become a Star Alliance member, improves access for our customers to more
European destinations and contributes to the strength of the Star Alliance
global network."
Air Canada inaugurated non-stop service between Toronto and Madrid April
7, 2002 offering convenient connections to codeshare flights operated by its
partner, Spanair, to Barcelona, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca as well as
flights to Lisbon, Portugal. Members of the airlines' frequent flier programs,
Aeroplan and Spanair Plus, benefit from reciprocal accumulation and redemption
of reward miles. Spanair is scheduled to become a member of Star Alliance in
spring 2003.
