Hmmm..looks like a classic "he said", "she said" argument between AMR and Airbus as to why the vertical stabilizer snapped off a ScareBus A300 last year in NYC resulting in the loss of all aboard. AMR sez it wasn't aware rapid rudder movement in flight could result in serious repurcussions. Airbus claims a letter was sent out in 1997 to all operators warning of the condition. The cause is thought to be wake turbulence from a B747 which had taken off before the A300. Manufacturer or pilot error? Hundreds of millions of dollars are resting on the outcome. RT Simpson Phoenix
