Among those 73 were five 717s, 39 737 Next Generation aircraft, and six 747s. Boeing has slashed its commercial airliner output to meet depleted demand from the faltering airline industry. Boeing shipped only 21 jetliners in August, its slowest month since March 2000, and has said its deliveries for next year should be down nearly 50 percent from the total of 527 jets it shipped in 2001.
