Air Canada - Media Advisory OTTAWA, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - Media are invited to attend a ceremony to commemorate Air Canada's donation of a vintage 1960s Douglas DC-9 aircraft to the Canada Aviation Museum in Ottawa. A truly unique chapter in Canadian Aviation history drew to a close when Air Canada retired its DC-9 fleet earlier this year. Air Canada added the DC-9 to its fleet in 1966 and with its retirement, said goodbye to the workhorse of the airline. The DC-9 changed the nature of air transportation in Canada and represented for most Canadians, their first experience of jet travel. Thanks to its consistently high performance in the areas reliability and safety, the DC-9 introduced faster, quieter, more reliable service than had ever been seen before in Canada. Media are invited to attend the ceremony as well as tour the aircraft and interview longstanding DC-9 pilots. Footage of the aircraft in beta format is also available.
