United unions coming up with proposal by Sept. 19 = = Friday September 13, 5:11 PM EDT = CHICAGO, Sept 13 (Reuters) - The five unions representing employees at UA= L Corp.'s (UAL) United Airlines on Friday sent management at the struggli= ng No. 2 U.S. carrier a letter outlining their plans to come up with an a= lternative framework for a financial recovery by Sept. 19. Such a framework, which presumably will outline the unions' ideas on cost= -cutting plans or alternatives, will enable United to "access substantial= near-term lending," the unions said in the letter to UAL's new Chief Exe= cutive Glenn Tilton. "We are confident that the alternative framework will enable the company = to provide the ATSB with supplemental materials in support of the company= 's pending application...and trust that you will take steps to ensure tha= t the company can file such materials after Sept. 16," the letter said.
