Delta quietly begins US Airways Attack

Did you ever wonder what Delta was planning to do with all the Comair CRJs
that they are pulling out of Orlando? In a fairly unusual move, with no
prior announcement, Delta recently loaded a whole host of new flights
which compete directly with US Airways at DCA (Washington National
Airport).

Starting in early November, Delta will begin flying multiple
daily roundtrips on CRJs to pretty much every city US Airways serves,
except their hubs. Included are Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm
Beach, Columbus OH, Charleston SC, Jacksonville FL, Tampa, and probably a
couple more which I don't recall.

I still have not come across a new service announcement by Delta, but did
just have a look at their web site, and they are promoting sale fares to
their new cities. Link:

Now, can anyone figure out where they picked up the slots for this??

There are quite a number of new flights in the system. In addition to
adding all of the US Airways cities, DL is also adding several extra CRJs
DCA-ATL, CVG, and JFK. I'm not sure what airport capacity is like right
now, but with such a large service increase, will there be some kind of a
pinch both airside and landside in the terminal? I have seen some very
long lines and crowds hovering around Delta's counter.
