Hello from bizjournals.com! David Mueller (davidm@smail.info) thought you might like the following article from Pacific Business News: ATA replaces chief executive; founder back in charge ------------------------------------------------------------ American Trans Air Inc. is under new management. ATA, the largest air charter service in North America and a major supplier of charter airlift to Hawaii, is being reorganized and its president has left. Parent company ATA Holdings Corp. announced that CEO John Tague had left the company "to pursue other opportunities" and that founder and chairman George Mikelsons would assume Tague's duties. Mikelsons said he is splitting up the Indianapolis-based company into five operating divisions: Scheduled Service, Charter, ATA Connection (a commuter airline out of Midway airport in Chicago), ATA Training Corp., and Ambassador Travel Club. All but the first two were already separate divisions. "ATA scheduled service has grown significantly from its charter heritage," Mikelsons said. "This phenomenal growth has made it necessary to separate our scheduled and charter services." ATA is the tenth largest U.S. passenger carrier by revenue passenger miles.
