Boeing says delivered 30 jets in July

Thursday August 1, 12:32 PM EDT

SEATTLE, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Boeing Co. (BA), the world's largest aircraft maker, said on Thursday it had delivered 30 jetliners in July, matching its lowest monthly total so far this year as it trims output to match shrinking demand from struggling airlines.

The Seattle-based commercial aircraft unit of the Chicago-based company has delivered a total of 252 jets so far in 2002 and expects to ship a total of 380 for the full year, down from 527 in 2001.

In the first two quarters of 2002, Boeing delivered an average of 37 jets per month, including a high of 44 in March and a low of 30 in January.

Boeing cut deliveries of its top-selling 737 narrow-body to 17 in July from 28 in June and from an average of 25 per month in the first half of 2002.

Boeing has fired nearly 30,000 workers and predicted its jet output would fall to 275 to 300 in 2003 as airlines, battered by a travel slump in the wake of the Sept. 11 U.S. hijack attacks, have slashed jet orders and deferred scores of scheduled deliveries.
