..ya..like it was Gulfstream's fault for UA dreaming up such a stupid idea such as their Avolar crap. ..but I guess it doesn't hurt to try. Walter DCA UAL Corp., on behalf of its now-defunct United Bizjet Holdings business aviation unit, filed a lawsuit late last month in Chicago Cook County Circuit Court to regain more than $50 million in deposits the company said it paid Gulfstream for a firm order for 36 GIV-SPs and GVs and options for 63 more. The jets, which had been slated to join UAL’s Avolar fractional program, were never delivered. Gulfstream would not comment on the suit, but previously said it intended to keep the deposits, possibly until it had successfully resold the airplanes. UAL charged that rather than assist United Bizjet Holdings with an “orderly shutdown,” Gulfstream is attempting to cancel the agreements for sales contracts requiring the company to refund the deposits. A spokesman for Dassault Falcon Jet said it has reached a "fair settlement" with UAL on the contract for a firm order for 46 Falcons intended for Avolar. UAL had letters of intent but no firm orders with Bombardier and Raytheon Aircraft. Avolar operated only three months before shutting down in March, after it was unable to secure outside investment money.
