Beginning July 2, 2002, Aloha Airlines will operate a daily flight from Phoenix to Kahului, Maui, via Orange County, California. Nonstop service to Maui from Vancouver will begin November 1, 2002, and nonstops from Burbank will be added on February 1, 2003. The new Maui routes are made possible through the acquisition of three Next-Generation Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The additions will bring the size of the carrier's fleet of extended-range 737-700s to 10, twice the number it operated a year ago. "We are truly excited to be able to offer our customers more daily service between North America and Maui," said Glenn R. Zander, Aloha President and Chief Executive Officer. "Only two years ago, we introduced Aloha's first transpacific flights with just two comfortable and efficient 737-700s. Today, I am proud to say that the overwhelming popularity of Aloha's transpacific service has enabled us to increase our fleet five times over." In February 2000, Aloha Airlines, Hawaii's largest locally owned interisland air service provider, launched new service to Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, the airline offers three scheduled flights between Oakland and Honolulu, Maui, and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. In May 2001, Aloha launched service to Orange County's John Wayne Airport. Today, Aloha offers daily service between Orange County and Honolulu and Maui. On June 1, 2002, Aloha will begin service from Honolulu to Burbank, a convenient alternative to Los Angeles International Airport that's close to Hollywood and downtown L.A. On June 15, the carrier will launch its newest international service between Honolulu and Vancouver, the largest city on Canada's West Coast. On its transpacific flights, Aloha's First Class service features Hawaii Regional Cuisine created by award-winning Master Chef Alan Wong. While most airlines have cut back on food service, Aloha continues to provide an enhanced level of service to all Coach Class passengers, including complimentary mai-tai cocktail, oshibori hot towel, free headsets and movie, a delicious meal with an Island flair, and freshly baked cookies served with milk. Customers can choose to earn United Mileage Plus or AlohaPass miles on every flight. For more than 55 years, Aloha has served the State of Hawaii with dependable, on-time and friendly air service. Aloha operates nearly 1,000 interisland flights weekly aboard Boeing jets between Honolulu and the main destinations of Lihue, Kauai; Kahului, Maui; and Hilo and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Aloha also flies to destinations in the Central Pacific, including Majuro in the Marshall Islands. Aloha's sister airline, Island Air, provides daily service between Honolulu and smaller airports on Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
